Staycation or Vacation – A Time to Recharge
Summer is here in the U.S. – and everyone needs a break. Even while working remotely or in a hybrid situation, stress is real and burnout is the result of unattended stress. According to The American Institute of Stress, 83% of U.S. workers state that they suffer from workplace stress (WORKPLACE STRESS - The American Institute of Stress). While we are all likely to suffer from stress from work, acknowledging it and addressing it are crucial in trying to manage it before it progresses to burnout.
One of the ways to address stress is to step away from work and recharge. Vacation, paid time off, personal days, etc. are earned and should be used by employees. Organizations should encourage their employees to take time off – and really take time off. That means not answering email or worrying about phone calls. Employees should be able to enjoy time away from work whether it is through a staycation or a vacation to refresh and recharge. Remember that a healthy and positive organizational culture attracts and retains employees, and employees can’t function at their optimal level if they are experiencing stress from work.
Enjoy the break!
